Red Carpet: Jennifer Lawrence at The Cannes Film Festival 2013

My favourite lady star of the moment, Jennifer Lawrence is currently at the Cannes Film Festival promoting the next instalment of 'The Hunger Games' and has yet again wore Christian Dior to each event so far. Now I know she is in the ads for Miss Dior so therefore is probably influenced (or contracted, who knows) to wearing Dior to public events, but I feel a lot of the time the Dior designs can age Jennifer quite a bit. Ms. Lawrence is one celebrity I would absolutely love to be a stylist for (Jennifer if your listening, hire me!) because to me she is stunning, she has a great healthy figure, she could have fun with fashion, is a brilliant role model for young girls, and last but not least she is YOUNG- young enough to pull off some incredible designs out there that most older actresses would not. So that's why I feel sometimes Dior designs can make her appear much older and sometimes dowdy which is something she most certainly is not. Which brings me to this feature which is of Jennifer wearing a Christian Dior (F/W '13) dress, I do believe the hem should have been shortened an inch or two as it makes her appear shorter when the length cuts off just above the ankle. The crisp white looks great on her, the casual-ness of her hair style, the simple jewellery and the pink pumps keep this look fresh and youthful which is needed and of course her flawless makeup. I really like this look on Jennifer but I really wish she would start wearing more of a variety of designers and ease up on the Dior, one designer that always works well for Jennifer is Prabal Gurung- that stunning liquid gold gown by Prabal she wore at the LA Premiere for The Hunger Games last year, that's what I want to see more of!

Daphne Groeneveld - Dior Addict Fragrance Campaign SS2012

I absolutely adore this ad campaign, both the pictures and the video from Dior for their 'Addict' fragrance. Photographed by Tim Walker, video directed by Jonas Akerlund and modelled by the beautiful Daphne Groeneveld, it is fun, fresh, flirty and colourful. Even though it seems quite a bit girly and light and airy for their now very well known fragrance called 'Addict' I still can't help but fall in love with the visuals for this campaign. I have posted attached the director's cut (video) for the campaign below too, which is very old-school-hollywood-movie in the way it was filmed, love love love! I'd love to hear what you guys think of this campaign? Feel free to comment.
Enjoy!

Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 2012

Christian Dior’s Spring Summer couture collection (Bill Gaytten’s second couture collection for Dior) was oh so 50’s, full of cinched in waists, pencil skirts, full volume a-line skirts and dresses, va-va-voom gowns and super high heels. The collection seemed to be quite the toned-down affair to what a Dior couture show usually is, somewhat of that might have been down to the idea behind the collection- seeing things in X-ray, seeing Dior in X-ray. There was almost an unfinished look to the clothes, which added to the beauty of them with sheer layers exposing the underlying construction of garments. Evening dresses in silk, gauze and chiffon some sprinkled with crystals added an understated dash of glam, maybe for some looks there could have been a little more. Colour palette was black, grey, white with a burst of red and plum here and there. All in all it was a beautiful collection with a romantic simplicity to it, but I think it missed that magic and fantasy that Galliano never failed to bring for years before. Highlight looks from the collection.
