Giambattista Valli Haute Couture Spring Summer 2012

Giambattista Valli is now a fully-fledged couture designer and my did he show why he should be honoured as just that. The Paris Fédération Française de la Couture usually award the Haute Couture appellation to a designer after they have shown couture for five years but the Federation decided that the standard of Valli’s work is so high that he is very much entitled to that honour on only his second couture show. This collection was absolutely exquisite, from the intricate beading detail, delicate lace, flowing silks and puffs of fabric. The entire collection was dreamy and romantic with a Spanish flare, oh and those stunning 1940's style flowered headpieces- I would like one of each! Colour palette was black and cream for daywear and then an injection of colour for eveningwear with pops of magenta, red, plum and fuschia. This is one of the most beautiful collections I have seen in a while, I salute you Mr. Valli.
Here are my favourites from the collection.
