Natasha Poly in Oscar de la Renta / Cannes Film Festival '14

So this years Cannes Film Festival is currently under way and although there is a full 12 days of festivities the full on glamour, the dramatic gowns and jewels haven't really been happening yet, until I saw this look from Natasha Poly who always brings true glamour and perfection to Cannes. Her gown is by Oscar de la Renta and De Grisogono jewels and I love that she kept her hair simple and sleek and brought the whole look together with the dramatic smokey eye. She is utter perfection.
Magnifique.

The Perfect Look - Fashion For The Races

Last week was all about the Royal Ascot race meeting, and every year at the meeting fashion is just as much of a highlight as the racing is, some of the fashion is good and a lot not so good but it always gets me thinking about the perfect head-to-toe look for the races. When it comes to fashion at the races I am know to be quite picky, I find it very hard to like absolutely everything about most of looks I see and there is nearly always something I would change about the outfits I do see. For the most part what causes it to be a no from me is the shoes, women get the shoes very wrong a lot of the time and choose to wear the type of shoes they would wear on a girls night out- party shoes (platform, unconventional & uncomfortable), and the races are no place for party shoes. The other thing that women get wrong is those who over-accessorise and I firmly believe that less really is more when it comes to accessories. So this leads me to this new feature I'm introducing to VN which is 'The Perfect Look' where I create what I consider to be the perfect look for certain events and for the first of this new feature it's a few looks which I think are perfect for the stylish, fashion-forward ladies out there who are off to the races. Side note: these are all luxury fashion looks but it won't stop me or hopefully all of you from taking inspiration from these top fashion houses into creating your own versions of these elegant, chic (and best dressed lady worthy) looks.
Enjoy!
